Veterans

In our time spent building the VFW Post 665 website and collaborating with the veteran community. I Am Humans has been given a unique insight into the daily lives of the veteran community. Our nation’s warriors are no strangers to feeling disenfranchised or marginalized. Hubs like the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wounded Warrior Project, Disabled American Veterans, or American Legion all exist in tandem. Each works for its local chapters and does what each thinks is best for its participating members.

Yet even in all that these organizations achieve in their individual brands. The veteran community can easily become dismissed or seen as “system moochers” due to the nature of their disabilities and how each veteran is compensated for their service-connected conditions. In other words, veterans who have served our nation in times of peace and in times of war. May become easily forgotten in the shadows at times by their government or even the nation’s citizens themselves. I Am Humans has a veteran staff community, including those who have been deployed and those who served our nation on the home front. These veterans are not exempt from feelings of mental illness or physical ailment.

In our time spent building the website for VFW Post 665. What we have learned in this process is the strategic importance of maintaining an advocacy group that works to achieve the highest possible percentage rating a veteran is owed for injuries sustained during their time in service. Even if someone outside of the military may not accept a rating that a veteran may receive and call them a “system moocher” this does not excuse the idea or nation that every veteran deserves to be paid for their injuries regradless of the backlash that some veterans may recevie from those they know or from the dismisaal of these benefits paid to veterans because of the desire to “expunge or save money” for those who already have.

A healthy veteran community is a society that thrives in peace and camaraderie. A chaotic veteran community will cause our nation to spiral into chaos, and many of us are familiar with what that chaos looks like, as the nation witnessed in 2021.

This is why I Am Humans believes that, for our society to thrive in a productive, community-based way. The veteran community must be treated as a top priority. In the same way, we must pay our electricity bills and rent or mortgage payments. It is within our humble opinion that the veterans’ community, whether that be with the VFW or any other outside enterprise that advocates for the mental and physical well-being of veterans, should always receive some type of funding in the form of private donations or public-affiliated funds used to ensure our veterans are treated to the highest standards of care and compensated for their injuries received while in service.

Compensation received at this level dates back to ancient Rome, as cited in “Old Age in the Roman World” by Tim G. Parkin.

As I Am Humans continues to discover and attract what we believe is best to make sure our society does not sink into chaos. We must ensure that the veteran community is protected from belligerent abuse at the hands of those who wish to depict veterans as “system moochers” or believe it upon themselves that the veteran community isn’t worthy of public assistance outside of being thanked for their service.

Many of our nation’s veterans suffer from mental health conditions and physical ailments that cause them to feel afraid, isolated, rejected, or less than a person. If this vulnerable community is not protected, chaos will live where peace should reside.

I Am Humans will help push the strong narrative of protecting the veteran community through media publications, news articles, and veteran-based opinions via YouTube videos and gaming communities, and by assisting the VFW in further website development.

As we continue to learn new methods, techniques, and ways to help our veteran community. Let us not become complacent or neglectful of the idea that the nation itself does not heal without the support and love and grace that is due to our nation’s veterans.

Each veteran case is different. But we must not neglect the urgency of our veteran community’s need for the highest level of due compensation and advocacy.
